The long-rumored version 2.5 of Hot off the Press is finally here for the world to see and play. It has been a long time coming, and it doesn’t even cover all the changes that I want to make, but I wanted to have this out in the world rather than sit on it for even longer.

Since the last release of Hot off the Press, I had an editor give it a look over, and I have implemented a lot of the notes and comments provided, hoping that it enhances and improves the experience of gameplay. Hot off the Press was one of the first games that I ever designed. Oh, so long ago, I was very much winging it and seeing what happened. And while I love what I made it and don’t regret putting it out into the world, I’d like to think over the years, I’ve grown as a designer and that this version of Hot off the Press is vastly superior to the prior version.

As for the future of Hot off the Press, I want to actually do a print edition for Make 100 in January, so please look forward to that crowd-funding project. However, before I do that, I want to have an editor take another go at it and then run a small playtest.

But those are, in my opinion, lofty goals for my little baby. I will think about them some more and provide an update about them in the future. Until then, please enjoy v2.5. It’s been a long time coming.
